Meet Travis
How did you end up here?
I followed in my mother’s footsteps. She spent more than 30 years as a beauty professional, and she remains my inspiration— professionally and personally. She has been a guiding light in my career and taught me lasting life lessons about loving myself first while caring for the people around me.
I entered the industry in 2011, and continued education has been a constant + a point of pride ever since. I’ve worked on national artistic teams with elite brands like Kerastase USA and Shu Uemura, and I've educated for local salons and schools. I’ve always believed artistry and business go hand in hand: the craft matters deeply, but understanding the business is what turns craft into a career, not a hobby.
Over time, cultures, people and paths changed, and the places that had once been right for me no longer were. Those chapters undeniably helped shape who I am, and I’ll be forever grateful for them, but going out on my own was a leap of faith. The obstacles felt enormous at times, yet they never outweighed what I truly wanted. The Haircut by Travis is where that path led.
Why did you choose to specialize in cutting hair?
I chose to specialize in the art of cutting hair because mastery requires focus. Rather than trying to excel equally across every service this industry offers, I devote my attention to one craft—cutting. Just as a specific health concern may call for the focused expertise of a specialist, I believe a truly exceptional haircut calls for the same level of dedicated focus. That allows me to refine each haircut shape, movement, grow out with greater intention and precision.
What happens at my first visit?
We start with a real conversation. If you’ve filled out the New Clients intake form, we’ll go over your answers together- and please bring photos that you love and also ones that you don’t love. Every haircut I do is tailored to you: your hair, your features, and your lifestyle. No one size fits all haircuts, just the one that’s best for YOU!
Do you offer other services besides haircutting?
Haircutting is my passion and my specialty but I’ve also grown to love what hair extensions can do to one’s self confidence. I am certified as of 2018 in Tape-in Hair Extensions with a company based out of Pasadena, California called Extensionology. Their philosophy and understanding of a quality product is something I’ve always aligned myself with behind the chair. Extension services always begin with a consultation so we can color match and build a plan moving forward together so you can get the most out of your investment. I also offer Signature Blowouts for those looking to get longevity out of their haircut, or what more focused time on learning how to re-create their style at home.
